Every morning feels like a battle—should you eat or skip it? And if you eat, what’s actually healthy? Come on, I live in the United States, and I’m a full-on breakfast lover, let me give you a few tips. Guarantee that you can eat healthy, but also not boring.
Healthy doesn’t mean boring—or just raw carrots.
Do you know how important is breakfast? How would you feel if you didn’t eat breakfast? If you still think skipping breakfast isn’t a big deal, go check out my last post where I break it down.
When you say the word “healthy”, the first thing that comes to mind is salads, boiled eggs, and sugar-free cereal. Let’s be honest—that sounds pretty boring. But a real healthy breakfast? Pay attention to three points: protein, carbohydrates, a little fresh fruit or vegetables. Eat enough, eat smart, all day with energy!
The ultimate American-style breakfast combo
Here’s my go-to standard breakfast:
- Two fried eggs (with crispy edges and a soft center)
- One slice of sourdough bread (Americans love this stuff)
- Half an avocado, sliced. Add a pinch of sea salt and some crushed red pepper.
- Finish it off with a cup of black coffee. Perfect!
- No avocado? Then switch to cheese, peanut butter, or a little turkey. The key is to mix and match your favorite flavors.
You only need 10 minutes for a solid breakfast.
If you’re pressed for time on a school morning, no problem. Here’s a quick breakfast template:
- Fry an egg—no need to overcook it.
- Pop a slice of toast in the toaster.
- Take a banana, or pour some blueberries.
- Pour a glass of milk or oat milk. Done!
Takes less than 10 minutes. Way better than grabbing a donut.
Don’t want to get bored? Switch it up!
I have a little habit—I switch things up a few times a week.
For example:
- Wednesday to a peanut butter banana toast, sweet and salty mouth just good
- Friday try breakfast burrito, scrambled eggs + cheese + salsa, directly away
- Weekend to indulge in a bit of bacon, pancakes, fried, eat together, ultra-satisfied!
Eating the same thing every day gets old fast. Keep it fun.
Lazy hack: prep the night before.
Do not look down on the night before 5 minutes, can save your life the next day:
- Soak your oats overnight.
- Wash and slice your fruit. Stick it in the fridge.
- Boil some eggs and store them in the fridge. Just reheat and eat in the morning.
- The next morning, just eat or heat it up. Saves time and energy.
Breakfast doesn’t need to be complicated. With just a little planning, you can start your day full of energy. Don’t use “no time” as an excuse, we all deserve a good breakfast!
